We use high-tech fiber optics to conduct a direct visual examination of your dog or cat’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for a more accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the stomach, small intestines, and colon. There are very few blood tests that can evaluate gastrointestinal diseases and vomiting and diarrhea are very common symptoms seen in our small animal patients.

Gastrointestinal endoscopy is a minimally invasive way to evaluate both the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract and allows us to obtain biopsies of tissue with virtually no side effects on our patients. The biopsies will allow more accurate diagnosis and the formulation of a more complete treatment plan for chronic vomiting or diarrhea.

We also use our GI scopes to place feeding tubes for long and short term nutritional and fluid needs and to remove foreign bodies in the stomach. Dogs and cats do have a tendency to eat things that they shouldn’t. Being able to use a scope to remove foreign material from the stomach eliminates surgery for many pets.
