Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy is the use of rigid and flexible telescopes to evaluate the urinary tract (urethra and bladder) and a magnified image is viewed on a computer screen. We are able to diagnose and treat many diseases of the urinary tract by this minimally invasive approach and avoid an open surgical procedure.

Cystoscopy allows biopsies of all parts of the urinary tract and removal of masses and polyps. In many cases we can remove bladder stones without a surgical  procedure. We also use these scopes to assist us in our laparoscopic assisted cytotomies. This is a bladder surgery to remove bladder stones that is performed through very small incisions. When surgery is performed this way there is significantly less pain and a much faster recovery time.
