Carbon Dioxide Laser and Electrosurgical Devices

Riverside Drive Animal Care Center offers a carbon dioxide laser for most surgical procedures as an  alternative to traditional surgery for cats and dogs. Lasers replace scalpels in many procedures, and are useful for a wide range of conditions, such as cyst, tumor, and wart removal as well as ovariohysterectomies and neuters, and is our standard of care for declawing in cats. Laser procedures result in less pain, bleeding and swelling. Their use results in less post-operative discomfort for the patient and potentially quicker recovery. The laser can shorten some surgical procedures due to better control of bleeding.

Electrosurgical generators help our surgeons perform surgeries because they allow better hemostasis and much less bleeding. The Valley Lab Ligasure device is a vessel sealing system that allows us to perform laparoscopic surgeries without blood loss and without using sutures to ligate lessels.  This instrument is essential for performing our minimally invasive surgeries using a laparoscope.
